reciepient cant open file

Hi Im new to vista and sent a wps document to several people however they
have all replied saying they cannot open it? Could anyone please advise what
I am doing wrong or how I can resolve the problem. One recipient has
requested I send in a different format, is this possible? ANy help would be
greatly appreciated
