recently used files-cannot select

Thank you for helping.

In my windows programs, under tools, options, general,
the 'recently used file list' is not highlighted (I cannot
select it).

How do I make it 'selectable' so that I may view my
recently used files on the drop down menu when I select
file?
 
Ask them in office.setup
