I have a 3 month old Dell Dimension desktop, Vista, Office 2003, the latest
McAfee virus protection/firewall. A couple of days ago I had Outlook open
and
was using it, then the automatic update system tray icon appeared. I closed
all applications and installed the update. After the automatic
Microsoft Update ran and said everthing was installed successfully I
restarted,
opened Outlook and it would not start, saying it could not find the
outlook.pst
file. After a search I found that it was nowhere on my computer. I tried
Detect and Repair via another Office application, no change. I reinstalled
Office from the disc, no change. Using an archived outlook file I restored
my
email and made a new outlook.pst file, but I lost about 2 months of data in
all
email folders. I now include the outlook.pst file in my weekly backup, but I
thought someone should know that there's something wrong with the recent
Vista
update.

For safety you should ALWAYS backup or ghost ALL data before applying ANY
patches or updates...
Sadly many learn this the hard way
