Right click the Start Button and select Properties/Customize Button/Advanced
Tab/Clear List Button.

enter clear recently opened documents as the search criteria.
The first thing found under Pick a Task explains how to achieve what you
require.
The Help and Support Center is there to help you. You may wish to search
there first before posting.

To remove records of recently accessed documents, programs, and Web sites.
With Classic Start Menu. Right click Start/Properties/Customize
button/Clear button/OK/OK.
With XP Start Menu: Right click Start/Properties/click Classic Start
Menu/Customize button/Clear button/OK/click Start Menu/Apply/OK
