receiving multiple e-mail copies

After using Outlook for years, in the last several months, I get multiple
copies of emails after my initial download.

Using Outlook 2002, SP 3
XP, SP 2 with ALL latest updates
DSL connection
POP3 mail acct, SMTP out
Do NOT have "Leave a copy of message on the server" checked

Do you have an AV integrated with Outlook to scan incoming/outgoing emails?
If yes, turn it off to see if it helps. It is redundant at best and
interferes with Outlook send/receive at worst, unless you use AVG with
Outlook 2007 where it is absolutely evil.

Assuming AV is anit-virus - currently using McAfee Security Center which
includes a Firewall and anti-virus. Turn the anti-virus off???? Very scary to
me! THX

If you have an on-access/real-time scanner, any emails you open will be
scanned by that. If you already have a virus, email scanning is the least
of your worries so outgoing scanning is pretty much useless.

I too receive multiple copies of emails. I use Microsoft Live One-Care and
have the Virus protection turned on. Why does using AV cause multiple
copies? I don't remember getting multiple copies when I used Symantec Norton
AV.
