Some help please.... When I start up my computer I am receiving error
0x800106ba saying there is problems itializing windows defender. When I go to
windows defender on my screen the same message appears. How can I sort out
this problem?
I tried to deinstall it but can't as I can't open the folder of windows

Karenrd,

On the Window Defender message boards, there have been a couple discussions
regarding this error. You may want to try some of the solutions mentioned
there. I found it by going to Windows Defender and looking for the newgroup
link. From there, the discussion is under General with a message named "Error
message 800106ba".

I hope that helps,

Mark

Here's how I fixed it:

Click Start
In Search - services
Click on Services in the list
You will now have a list of services on the pc
Scroll to Windows Defender and it will say Manual
Change it to Automatic and Start it then
Reboot and the message is gone from both of my computers.....

Alas! The issue was fixed. Thanks Christine.
I spent over 2 hours browsing through the MICROSOFT database to get some
solution on this issue I've noticed on WINDOWS DEFENDER over the last couple
of days, but of no help. Thanks for your wonderful tip. How did you manage to
think of this good solution.

Thanks again. Keep 'em coming!

Anand.

Hi Guys,

Please do not uninstall Windows defender as instructed by Microsoft
help site, so that we don't face a further problem with windows defender
installation. Just know how to hide that error message as we got
solution in our forum. As one of our member has commented, Microsoft
must resolve these kind of problems.

They have. They've discontinued it.
And please quote the post you are replying to:

The "forum" that you are posting in leaches off the Microsoft News servers
in order to make it look far busier than it really is. Everyone who uses the
MS News servers sees your post on it's own - we have NO IDEA to whom you are
talking.

This is not your fault - the fault lies with the forum owners who do not
explain to members that their posts end up on global Usenet newsgroups.
If you MUST continue to post in this "forum" then please at least quote the
post you are replying to, and do NOT change the subject line.

You would be far better off however, using a news reader and subscribing to
these news groups direct.
