receiving emails

Hi. I just got this new computer with Windows Vista. I am not very familiar
with it but I've been able to figure most things out about my email. The
only problem I have is that I don't receive my emails right away. If at 3:30
I hit the "send/receive" button then I might be receiving mail from a half
hour earlier at 3:00. Is there anything I can do to change this? Although I
am receiving my email it's still frustrating. Thanks!

You can make it check for mail more often. Click on Tools, then Options.
If there is no check mark in the box before Check for new messages every,
click on this box. Also adjust the number after this, but not to less than
5
minutes. Click Apply, then OK.

Thanks! Why not less than 5 minutes?

After every receive completes, the mail server needs time to perform
some housekeeping chores on your mailbox on the server. If you
check mail again before that chore is completed, your mailbox on the
server can become 'hung' for several minutes.
