"Received" time wrong?

Gary

I'm running Windows Mail on a Vista machine and I receive mail from two
account on two different mail servers. The problem I'm having is that the
"Received" time on messages from one mail server show as about 4 hours and
20 minutes earlier than the time the email is actually received on my
computer. In most cases the time shown is hours before the message was
actually sent. (I checked this for sure by sending a message from another
computer using a third mail server. The message showed up on the other
computer almost instantly and the "Received" time was listed as 4 hours and
twenty minutes earlier! Actually, I sent two messages one to each email
address. Both messages were received at almost the same time but one had
the correct time shown in the "received" column and the other had the bogus
time.)

I contacted tech support at the mail server that's giving me fits and they
pass it back to me saying the time is set on my computer and they're not
causing the problem. I'd agree except for the fact that my computer clock
is set correctly and I'm only having problems with one of two mail servers.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing my problem.

Press Ctrl+F3 while viewing one of those messages.
The "Received" headers you see are actual time stamps from the
servers that message has passed through. Each mail server adds
its time stamp as the top header line. Those time stamps are
not affected by any setting on your computer.

Thanks for the reply, Gary. I had looked at the headers and it looks as if
the time stamp added second to last (near the top of the list) is screwed
up. I think that's my email host for that account but I'm not sure. I
challenged tech support at my domain host again so I'll see what they have
to say. Thanks, again.

You're very welcome. If you need more help, post those
'Received' headers.
