I have selected and use Outlook 2007 as my email program. However, at times
whenI open Outlook Express to check newsgroups, my current email gets
diverted to Outlook Express. Any way to prevent this and have all email go
to Outlook?

Change your Outlook Express profile not to get any mail from your mail
server, or at least to leave a copy of the messages on the server.

Don Bouchard,
You can create a shortcut on your desktop to open Outlook Express as just a
News Reader.
Right Click the Desktop> Select Short cut> type: "C:\Program Files\Outlook
Express\msimn.exe" /newsonly or Browse to the msimn.exe file on your PC, if
it is in a different location, and add the /newsonly switch, with a space
after the quotation marks for the program.

Make sure that you use the quotation marks around the program location, and
leave a space before the forward slash (/). Give it a name like NewsGroups
Reader. Then you can click on this shortcut without starting OE's mail
functions.
