I have recently been receiving duplicate mail in my POP3 account. I receive
about 3 or 4 of the same e-mail a day and it is getting really annoying. I
have removed my anti-virus and do not have duplicate accounts. I don't know
what to do. Please help.

Are they Spam mails?
If so this is now a regular practice of sending 3,4, or more of the same
Spam at once.

If not Spam:
Did you ask the sender if they are sending repeated messages to you?

Tools | Accounts
Make sure you don't have two entries for the account.

If this is spam that's common.

if this is in outlook look in mail rules
i think problem is there

No, they're not spam and yes I've asked the sender if they've been sending
duplicates and they said no. :(

I don't have a two entries for the same account. And it's not the spam that
i'm getting duplicates of.

Ask the sender to check to see if "they" have duplicate accounts set up,
since I do not know of another cause.

I am getting duplicates from everyone. Perhaps it has something to do with
the fact that I have my school e-mail (G-mail) forwarding to my cox account
on windows mail. But my G-mail has been forwarding all of my school mail to
my private account for the entire year and the duplicates have only just
started arriving.

We are getting close to the problem now Bubbles :-)

You need to set up a mail rule, Tools Menu>message rules>mail>new>where the
message is To: (enter) your gmail account (click the blue text) >move to
selected folder>create a folder named Gmail, (click the blue text)>select
that>stop processing more rules.

I think I'd like to check the headers from each duplicate copy. When you
get a pair go to each copy and check rt click the message > Properties >
Details > Message Source and look for differences. Can you report back with
that information please.

Lincoln actually got it right but was way ahead of his time when he said,
"You can have some of you computer working all of the time and all of your
computer working some of the time but..." It was he that said that, wasn't
it?

Will setting up this rule eliminate all the mail I get from G-mail?
Including the originals? Because I still want to be able to receive one of
the two copies. If I can still do that then I will try to set up the rule.
Also, I have just found out that now people are receiving duplicates from me
about 30 minutes apart. Is this some sort of virus? Thank you for all your
help, by the way, I really appreciate it.

If you could supply a "header" dump of two representative e-mails maybe we
can fix the problem instead of "covering it up".

For a pair of duplicate e-mails you got, right click on one of the e-mails >
Properties > Details > Message Source. Then copy copy and paste down to,
but don't include the message. Then do this for the other (duplicate)
e-mail, we can compare them and see what's different.
