Receiving dupicate messages from POP3 email account in Windows Mai

I have used Outlook in the past and it continues to run and get mail on
desktop computer. I do not want to do any changes that would interrupt that.
I have a new computer with lesser version of Office so I am using Windows
Mail. When I click "Send/Receive" it begins to download all messages on the
email server, even if they already show in the Inbox. I cannot find any
option settings in Windows Mail that allows me to prevent this.

Thanks

Does it download the same messages each time it checks for mail?
That typically indicates a 'stuck' email on the server.
Log in via webmail (using your browser), sort the messages there by date,
delete all the older ones you already have downloaded, plus one more.
Try Windows Mail again.

Make sure you only have one copy installed of the account (check Tools |
Accounts). Also you may try my Windows Mail utility to compact and repair
the database, as it appears the counter may have gotten corrupted
