We are having a problem with emails that have multiple attachments being
delayed for several hours and sometimes days.
Is there a setting I need to adjust?
We use Avast and have had very good luck with it. But lately some of my
husband's emails have been delayed and we are thinking it might be the
multiple attachments.
Thanks,
Sandy

Normally once you click the send button and do a send/receive, your message
will first flow into your Outbox, and then be received by your ISP's
outgoing email server. Once this has happened the remote mail server will
try and deliver your message to the destination email server.

If you're getting a delay message back, there aren't any settings you can
modify on your local email software, it's the remote end that's typically
the failure. Often you'll be informed as to why your message has been
delayed. The two most common reasons I would estimate are that the
attachments you're sending are too big, and have filled the person's remote
mailbox, or their mail server has temporarily had problems and your message
will be delivered in due course.

Short answer: wait, or attach smaller files.

I think maybe I was not clear...these are messages sent TO him. The sent
time on the message is hours and sometimes days prior to the received time.
Can I make adjustments so the messages with attachments can be received in a
timely manner?
Thanks,
Sandy

There are no settings within your email client that can inpact on this.
Contact your ISP for an explanation.

That is most likely a mail server problem.
Each mail server that handles the message adds a time stamp, which
enables you to trace where the delay occurred.
You can view those time stamps by pressing Ctrl+F3 while viewing the
message. Look for lines beginning with "Received:".
