I am trying to install windows xp pro wih sp-1 on a gateway essential 933. I keep getting an error right after the bios post (just after it prompts to press any key to boot from the cd) saying "Windows NT has found only 447k of low memory. 512k of low memory is reqd to run Windows NT. You may need to upgrade your computer or run a config program provided by the mfgr".

The system has 128MB of ram, which I know aint much but its sure more than 447k! The system meets all the requirements for Windows XP... SO WHAT GIVES? Gateway refuses to help. Can you?

128MB is definitely not enough, even 256MB is borderline for XP. It's using
almost all your RAM resources booting up.
It DOES say "xxx amt. of LOW memory is required", not xxx amt. of memory.
