Recalling an Email message

Jaz

Does anybody know what the criteria is to recall a message?

If a message was sent outside our company and then immediately recalled
before it was read, is it guarenteed to be recalled?

In not, what would make it unable to be recalled if the message was NOT
read?

Thanks,
Jasper

Nope. Not at all. Once it leaves the org, you can forget it.

Recall barely works inside the Exchange org. It certainly wont work
once it has left your system.
Would you want to give someone outside your org the ability to reach
in to your system and pull an email back? :)

Forget it.
Messages are night impossible to recall. You might have that feature
in Outlook but when the message drops into the recipients inbox you
pretty much lose control over it.

Here is the criteria
Message Recall will not be successful if:

The recipient is not using Outlook.

The recipient is not logged on to the mail service provider.

The message has been moved from the Inbox.

The message has been read. This includes viewing the message with the
Preview Pane so that the message is flagged as Read.

But if you sent it outside your org, its gone. You wont get it back.

Ah, but you will send the recipient a message that makes him or her eager to
thoroughly re-read the message they now know you are desperate to recall.
