recall previous command in MS-Dos

I cann't recal the previous comman in MS-Dos. I tried
doskey, but didn't work. may be I didn't know how to
configure it.
Would you help advise me how to enable this feature in my
Dos system.

I know, if it is enabled. but the function is not
enabled. how to enable it?

Have you tried DOSKEY /? for the 'doskey' help display, thiere is a
reinstall parameter.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I hadn't realized that this feature
could be disabled. I've never seen it not work.
