Rebuilding a Website

It looks like we are going to have to rebuild a website because the FP
private files are missing and/or corrupted because of using FTP
instead of HTTP to publish. The site does have FP extensions.

What is the best approach to rebuilding a site? We have all the
files, but of course the nav buttons don't work, etc. I have never
been able to apply a theme and nav buttons to an existing site. I am
assuming that we need to re-create all the pages (blank) along with a
theme and navigation, then cut and paste from the original pages into
the new pages. Is that the best way to do it?

If the site was publish prior to the extensions, then those "private" file where not created on the
live/remote server. There are only created on a server that has the FP extensions installed at the
time the site was published via FP's http mode or the site was open in FP and that navigation, etc.
recreated.

However in no case are the hidden "private" files ever published between locations.

In this case, the webmaster was using FTP from within FrontPage to
publish his site. FP extensions were in place, but the private files
are not usable to recover the site live in FP. Now we will have to
rebuild the site to start over. My question is what is the easiest
way to do that?

Unless the site was published via FP's http mode then the hidden file were not created, since using
FTP (even FP's) does not interact with the FP extensions on the live/remote server.

Also using FTP when the FP extensions are installed, will corrupt the extensions, which then must be
removed/re-installed by the web host.

Your only option at this point is to rebuild the navigation structure, re-apply themes, shared
borders, FP Include Page components, etc. if used.
