Rebooting when running virus scan or spy ware scan

Help.

Everytime I try and run a virus scan or a spy ware scan, y computer will
reboot itself. This doesn't happen right away, about 1/2 way into the scan.
Any help will be appreciated.

I run norton virus and ad aware.

This has just started happening

Personally, I'd start by uninstalling and reinstalling NAV. If
the problem keeps happening, I'd try another antivirus program.
If that's not an option then here are some suggestions.

Take a look in Event Viewer for any entries that coincide with
the restarts.
You also might want to consider turning off the automatic restart
feature that Windows enables by default:

Right click on My Computer and select Properties.
On the Advanced page, select Settings in the Startup and Recovery
section.
In the System Failure section of the box that pops up remove the
check mark next to Automatically restart.
Click OK twice.

Now when you encounter this problem you should see a blue screen
with some information that might help you troubleshoot the
problem.

Thanks

I gave that a try, and I did get some infomation.

It has been rebooting even when I was running McAfee, and even the Ad aware
spy ware program.

I have 2 disks in my computer, 1 with two partitions (C and D), and one
regular (E). I ran a scan on my E and D drive and those worked great, no
problems.

But when I tried to run it on my C drive, that is when it went to put. I am
beginning to think my C drive is about shot?

Go to Start -> Run and type cmd.exe in the Open box in order to
open up a command prompt window.
Type chkdsk.exe C: /f and hit the enter key (leave a space before
and after C:).
You're going to see a message about running chkdsk when your
machine restarts. Enter Y and reboot. If it finds bad sectors on
you HD it will mark them so they're not used. You might also want
to run any HD diagnostic utilities that are available from the
drive manufacturer.

Good luck
