This hdd is a dual boot of win2k prof and win xp home. I boot into win 2k and
use this to scan another hdd(sec slave) for virus etc. After I detached the
sec master I reboot into win2k. However, it never completes the loading of
the OS and restart. I have no problem booting into in xp. Please adice how
best I can get it to boot into win2k? Thanks

Did this happen in the last 2 days? If so you prob got a update from
"Automatic Updates" that's causing the problem. I have several PC that are in
a boot loop also and it happened after Automatic Updates donloaded and
insallled causing an automatic reboot.

I had to boot using a wk2 CD and run a repair to fix most.

Since then MS has advised me to boot from CD and go to recovery console and
expand D:\i386\sfc.dll to C:\winnt\system32
Do this...at prompt with CD in type:
D:\ and hit enter
then
cd i386 hit enter
then
expand sfc.dll c:\winnt\system32 hit enter
1 file expanded
Reboot and you should be OK

After I boot to Recovery console, I get 1 c:\windows
2 D:\winnt
choose 2 and get over the password and comes to D:\winnt and I am stuck
here. I know you said, " Do this...at prompt with CD in type:
D:\ and hit enter
then
cd i386 hit enter ..... unquote.
Dave, can you help and write the steps that I must do. Many thanks for your
time.

Dave,
I am not gettting help from MS as the tech does not know where the said
instruction comes from (or from which kb#) I try to do a fixboot (to c:drive)
and it does not help.

{When I am in the Rconsole,
1. c:\windows
2. D:\winnt
I choose option 2 then when ask where to write the boot I chose c:} I hope I
did the right thing here, so hope you can explain the steps you take to
correct your system. Thanks
