Position on disk ?

Hello all
I have a 80Gb Maxtor master hdd with XP SP3 and about 65Gb free.
If I create a 20Gb partition at the end of this disk, ie. so that it
would be first 60Gb XP Installation, then 2K, will 2K work, or does it
have to be in a certain position wrt start of disk. I gather that some
MS os's have to be within so many Mb of the disk start or they will
not boot.
At present I double boot using GRUB with XP on master hdd and
PCLinuxOS on secondary hdd, so would reconfigure GRUB to take into
account the WIn2K installation.

This is a hardware limitation and occurs independently of the operating
system. This should not be an issue on newer computer if their BIOS supports
INT13 Extensions and this feature is turned on, which it is by default. Also
this article may help.
