Realtek 97 Audio Drivers Still not good in 5536

I installed PreRC1, hoping the realtek audio drivers would support sound AND
mike, but that was not to be. MS built-in driver got ok (not great) sound
but the mike would not work at all and the beta drivers on realtek's site
were no better, in addition to giving a warning that they weren't designed
for Vista (despite being Vista beta drivers and being posted on 8/17/06). I
finally installed the drivers that came with my computer 2 years ago and got
the best results...sound and mike. I hope Vista (or Realtek) comes up with
some decent drivers before the final release.

Ok, the old driver works, ...until i start again, or want to play some music.
After a few seconds there is only a great rush.

In addition to the above, I'm finding that I lose my sound after putting the
computer into sleep mode. After resuming, there is no sound! Sure wish
these hardware drivers would improve, as the general public will not be happy
when they can't get sound on a 1 1/2 year old computer!

The very latest drivers (6156) on Realtek's site installed and gave the best
results yet (preRC1). I have mike support and sound that isn't breaking up
too much. Could be better, but it is moving in the right direction. They
aren't MS signed, but say they are signed by Realtek! Still get warnings
about not being designed for Vista, even though they are vista drivers. I'm
wondering why when I installed the WinXP drivers, they didn't come up with
that warning.

One more postitive. I now get sound after resuming from standby and I also
am not freezing up after closing my laptop lid and reopening it. I think the
sound drivers may have been what was causing both problems. With the 6156
drivers, it is working....SO FAR!
