the reason i deem this so bad is because im at the recovery point, as nothing
i've done so far has helped- i went to a microsoft page about 10 top IE
problems and followed a few things on it like reregistering some dlls,
clearing cache and dont remember what else point for point--please dont fill
up posts asking why--as i now need help with this--now when i click on
anything to go to a webpage, IE does not go there, instead it it asks me am i
sure i want to download "_ _ _ _ .htm"? i cant reinstall IE, because SP2
always says newer version already installed, and after doing those above
mentioned things, there are no longer any earlier restore points. --anybody?
i had to find another pc to post this

Hi,

you should do a full system scan with antivirus and anti-ad sofware.
Maybe you got a virus on your system or something like that.
Or one of your "Browser Helper Objects" got corruppted. Do a full scan!

It sounds to me that your browser has been hijacked.

1. Download hijackthis from http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/
2. Install hijackthis on your C: drive.
3. Open the program and click on Do a system scan and save a logfile.
4. Save the logfile.
5. Visit http://www.hijackthis.de/
6. Either copy and paste your logfile contents into the space provided, or
7. Click on the Browse button and locate your logfile.
8. Click on Analyze
9. Wait a few minutes and the results will be displayed.
10. Follow the instructions for the "Nasty" entries.

Good luck.
