readyboost and autoplay

TheAutoplay is set to use and "ask me every time" for all media and I have ah
premium flash drive Vista approved connected correctly.Problem is autoplay
never appears so I can choose what to do either readyboost or normal. How do I
get autoplay to show the removeable drive 'page' so I can choose readyboost.A
beep or chime noise is all that happens when I plug and unplug the flash
drive,nothing else(visual).

Open Control Panel/AutoPlay and make sure that the "Use autoplay for all
media and devices" option is checked at the top of the pages. You can also
go through all the sections to choose your preferences. Be sure and click
the "Save" button at the bottom right side.

thanks, guy - but it was already set to 'started'

OK, step two. It's possible you told the popup menu to not come up
again.
In that case, just open your start menu and click COMPUTER then right
click
your USB drive letter and go to properties. You should see a
readyboost
tab.

I found the answer to my own question.Unlug the flash drive and leave it
unpluged then restart the computer and then plug it back in.The autoplay
appears and I chose readyboost with the maximum memory(slider to the far
right thus greater than the suggested because I won't use the flash drive for
any file(s) only memory)and then apply,OK.The light on the flash
drive(Patriot XporterXT 1 GB)flashes and it was OK.I have 950Mb use(far right
on the slider max.)for memory and the suggested was 7 hundred and some odd
number like 768 or786 or whatever it suggested(I can't remember
exactly).Simply, autoplay only appears once at startup from unplugged to
plugged in and then set it and after that it never appears.I found that
creating a shortcut to autoplay on my desktop was helpful.Leadermaster
