Readyboost not working

aI am running Vista premium with 2gb ram and cannot get the readyboost option
to work on my 2gb flashdisk. This worked originally in my laptop but now when
I plug it in autoplay isn't an option nor is to use this device to boost my
performance an option. If I click in the readyboost tab under properties I
get the message saying that a cache exists on another device. Please remove
the cache from that device before creating a cache on this device. There is
no other device attached to my system. I have tried following all the help
files on this subject but keep going around in circles.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

Did you dedicate the WHOLE of the flashdisk to readyboost? I did that and,
after a number of days, my 4GB flashdisk drive became invisible, unusable
and, consequently, unformattable. During the few days it was installed I
could not be sure that any useful improvement in performance had taken
place. My feeling is that readyboost is just a gimmick and buying more RAM
is the only serious solution. 2GB more or less essential, 4GB better. Doug

ReadyBoost is great if you're in a RAM-limited situation. If you've
already got enough RAM for your needs, it's not going to be especially
useful.

If you've maxed out an old laptop's memory capabilities, for example,
ReadyBoost may be the only answer, and in this situation, it's a
godsend.
