Reading PUB files

Hi, I received some files with the .pub extension and don't have
Publisher. I asked the tech support guy at MS what applications would
read them and he said only Publisher and FP. Since I have no need to
create docs using Publisher, and since I didn't have either but would
get more mileage out of the creation capabilities of FP, I bought it.

Now I find that I can't after all, read .pub files using FP. Is this
right?

Thanks for any advice

Brian

Only Publisher can open Publisher files.

I just tried it...no go.

An alternative could be if the person who gave you the file outputted it to a .pdf (they would have to have Adobe Acrobat Writer or Distiller...or another .pdf creation tool)...then you could open the ..pdf...but don't know if this will help either because you couldn't edit it. Depends on what you want to do with the image.

If you need those .pub files, you are welcome to send them to me (if they
aren't huge) and I'll save them as a .pdf for you.

I do, and as a matter of some urgency in fact, and I sincerely
appreciate your offer. Unfortunately, they seem to run to about 67MB

Thanks anyway

send them to my alter ego address:
JL underscore Paules at hotmail dot com

I don't have much in there - sgould be okay. I have BB so we'll give it a
shot.

Wait - it just dawned on me. 67MB. OUCH!!!

Geez - can they be zipped to something smaller?

Have the person use the "Publish To Web" function. You'll then be able to view with web browser

Problem solved - I found the online convertor at the Adobe website and
converted them to PDF files

Thanks again for your help
