I'm using Outlook 2003. I booted up my machine and the reading pane is
missing. When I select View from the menu bar, the Reading Pane selection is
disabled. The reading pane has been displaying for months...now it's gone
and I can't select it.

Any ideas why? I have the Reading Pane position set to "right" in the View
Thanks in advance for any help!

Is it disabled for all folders or just one?
Tried another reboot already?

I rebooted twice. It's disabled for all folders.

I searched the group and found a posting suggesting that I delete my
outcmd.dat file and restart Outlook...it worked like a champ!

thanks for your time...can you tell me what the outcmd.dat file is used for?

The outcmd.dat contains Toolbar customization settings. When it gets
corrupted buttons may not of work or Outlook can fail to load entirely.

Arrange By >> Current View >> Customize Current View >> Other
Settings.
