Reading Pane info gone:

Yesterday my Reading Pane in MS Outlook went blank. I've gone into View,
Reading Pane and made sure Lower was selected. The bar is still across the
screen.

I've used Outlook for years and have never had this problem without being
able to toggle the info back. How do I get the Reading Pane info back?

Hello!

This very same thing happened to me today. This morning my reading pane was
working perfectly, now this evening it no longer displays any email.

Simultaneously, Outlook no longer automatically checks for new email
anymore. I have it set to download pop3 and IMAP email from several different
accounts every 10 minutes, and this task no longer runs. I have to click the
'Send/Receive' button for this to happen.

I can double-click on emails listed, and they open in a new window and can
be read there.

I am using Outlook 2007 in Vista Ultimate. This installation has worked
perfectly since it was installed in December 2008.

So far I have tried the following fixes suggested elsewhere in the newsgroups:

start > run > outlook.exe /resetnavpane - no change

start > run > outlook.exe /cleanviews - no change

turn off virus scanning - I use AVG to scan incoming email. I have toggled
this on and off, no change

I have also rebooted several times this evening, no change

It seems that the reading pane does not refresh view - here is a screenshot
after I changed the reading pane preferences a few times and resized the list
view:

As you can see, artifacts have built up in the reading pane - it is almost
like the rendering/drawing function has stopped there.

I upgraded to Internet Explorer 8 the day it was released, if that is any
help.

I am open to suggestions. Not having a reading pane is not a show-stopper,
but I have grown fond of using it, and now not having it is now inconvenient.

I read that creating a new Outlook profile may fix things - how will doing
this affect my current substantial repository of email? I have more than 100
folders and thousands of emails going back 9 years.

Thanks in advance!
