Reading Fox Pro Files

I am new at access but is it possible to read a file created in Visual Fox
Pro. An is there a version of access I should be at to do this? Thanks in
advance for any help.

Try this -- Click on menu FILE - Get External Data - Import and select the
source drive. At the bottom of the window (Files of type:) select dBase 5
(*.dbf). I think that will do you. It has been a long time since I worked
with Fox Pro.

I attempted that and received the following:

Unexpected error from external database driver (8961).

I am using Windows 2000, with Access 2000, I am not sure if that has
anything to do with it or not.

Try using the Paradox but that does not work then someone else will need to
help you.

Hi Daniell,

You can use the FoxPro and Visual FoxPro (through VFP6) ODBC driver,
downloadable from msdn.microsoft.com/vfoxpro/downloads/updates/odbc, and
then set up an ODBC data source and use the Get External Data method Karl
mentioned. If a DBC file is present with the DBFs then point the data source
to it, otherwise just point to the folder where the DBFs are.

DBFs using features added in VFP7 or later are not accessible via ODBC - you
have to use OLE DB and ADO.
