FoxPro vs Access files

P

Paul Bruneau

Hi Folks,

Can someone help me work with several Fox Pro database tables from a
Microsoft Access - 2003 program.

I seem to be stuck on the notion that since both are Microsoft
products that Access should have an appropriate driver.

( However.. I sure as hell can't figure it out )

At the end of the day, I want to be able to edit or delete records
in the Fox Pro files and then still have them available to a Fox Pro
runtime program.

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,

Please see the following KB article:

You cannot connect directly to FoxPro databases in Access 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/824264

Sorry, I don't know the logic for the statement "the Microsoft FoxPro ISAM driver is not included
in Access 2003". For some reason, Microsoft stopped including this driver with Access 2000.

I forgot to mention that some recent versions of FoxPro have different file
formats. If you don't have the proper dbf filters you can also use ODBC. To
do that, set up a DSN by going to Control Panel ... Administrative Tools ...
ODBC and set up a File DSN. The wizard should guide you through it OK.
