Reading floppy discs made on Win. 98 on Win.XP

I have floppy discs that were made on Windows 98 and I
cannot read them on /windows XP.What do I do?
 
I have floppy disks as ancient as windows 95 but can still read them on
windows xp. What are the file extensions? Do you have the corresponding
program installed on xp that created the files?
 
Were you planning on telling us what program created the files on the
diskette?
