Read Receipts not processed in OL2007

CJSnet

Hi, I thought this was just a 2003 glitch but now I have 2007 I still
notice:

I have set all the tickboxes for automatically processing then deleting read
receipts on arrival.
When a receipt comes in, it stays in the Inbox.
If I just mark it read, it stays there.
In OL2003 when I opened it into a window, then closed it and moved off it,
it would sometimes delete automatically.
In OL2007 even that does happen. All read, read-receipts stay in the Inbox.

Is this by design? Any ideas anyone?

It might be because of what type of internet you have. Like AOL, Comcast you
know those things. other than that I do not really know

Not likely, but thanks. I use Telewest Broadband, a very standardised and
large UK ISP. It uses a PPP Cable Modem.

Thing is I have had this problem on OL2003, OL2007 and 2 different machines.

Can you tell me what happens to your receipts when you have all the
checkboxes ticked, and one comes in?

Does it stay unread until you open it, then move off it and it disappears...
or is it hit and miss like for me?

Anyone able to cast an answer on this 4 year old issue?

Yes, very annoying issue. MS spend all the time making a new version of
Outlook, but are completely careless in fixing these well known bugs...! :(
I have the very same problem. At least Outlook 2003 sometimes would process
these items, but 2007 seems to never process them...

/ Per

ps. The best I can come up with for now is to make your own rule, moving all
new emails with the subject line starting with Read: and Delivered: to
another folder...
