read receipt stuck in outbox

When I get emails requesting a receipt the reply stays in the outbox. I have
to forward the reply and delete the reply from the outbox. What needs to
happen so that when I 'reply' to a receipt request it gets sent.
Thank you

Hard to say without any Outlook configuration information. Also read
receipts are not visible in the Outbox so the forwarding scenario does not
apply. You might want to try it again.

Using Outlook 2000. There are two accounts setup. SMTP is mail.bellsouth.net
for both accounts. When I click OK to send the receipt it does show up in the
outbox and just stays there. I then go to the outbox and open the 'receipt'
and forward it which gets sent; but the receipt just stays there.
This also happens to some emails that I'm trying to reply to.
What other info would help you with this?
Thank you
Charlie

RR are visible in the outbox if you use internet mail only mode.

when they don't send it's usually because the email acct won't accept them -
I forget how good Ol2000 was with sending on the receiving acct, but it's
likely the problem. Is the RR coming on the second acct but the forward
using the first? If so, change the SMTP authentication so it's the same as
the first acct should work...

Both accounts are using the same SMTP which is 'mail.bellsouth.net. ' The
second account is email from the email account furnished with the website
which is also hosted by Bellsouth (the New At&T). So perhpas it's OL2000, huh?

it's caused by the smtp not accepting the message - usually due to security
on the smtp.
