How can I copy some of my OL 2003 e-mail messages so I can open them on
another computer that has OL 2002? I can copy them onto the desktop and then
to a cd using the machine that has OL 2003 on it but when I try to open it on
the machince with OL 2002 I am told that I must have OL 2003 or later.

Thanks

are you copying the pst to the other machine? You need to use the old pst
format, not the new one. File, New... outlook data file, choose the Outlook
97 - 2002 version and copy the messages to it.

I am only wanting about 50 of the old e-mails - not the whole pst file. I
tried what you suggested but then dragged the individual e-mails to the
desktop and then copied them to a cd but still was in OL 2003. If this is not
possible - could you walk me through how to move the entire pst file to my
other machine and then open it? Will this be in a file by itself so I can
then move them where I want them and delete the other information?

I know this is above and beyond but thanks so much for your time.

From your Outlook 2003, create a '97-2002' PST file.
Drag-and-drop* the messages you want to that PST file.
Close that PST file, or shut down Outlook 2003.
Transfer the file to the Outlook 2002 system.

*) Use right-click drag-and-drop to get a choice between Copy and Move.
