Read only problem setting up a share.

One of our clients has a Domain with W2K Server and 3 XP SP1 workstations
connected. From time to time we want to dial in to the server and copy files
to each workstation using a command file which references the target
directories with \\ws_name\share_name.

I set up an individual share for each of the folders to which I want to copy
files, and when I first tried to copy files from the server to one of my
shares, I got the access denied message. On examination of the share
properties, I see that the shared folder is set to read-only. I have
unchecked this read-only setting and clicked apply and Ok, but the moment I
look again, the read-only attribute is set back to checked. I have tried all
the things I could think of, and can not get these shares to allow me to
copy from the server to the WS. If I do the copy while at the workstation
(i.e. going the other direction), there is no problem.

I have always been logged on as Domain\Administrator on each machine.

Can someone please help?

Thanks in advance.

Where are you reading read only, in the Security dialog for the share? If not it has no relevence. Have you got file and folder permissions to do what you are doing.

check that and also are you inheriting permissions?

Under the security tab of Properties, the group "Everyone" shows full
control for the folder, yet I still can't copy to the share name. I have
reduced this problem to a single XP standalone workstation on which I have
created a share as described in my previous post.
