'Read' items not displaying as read

I'm using Outlook 2003 with Exchange Server 2003 on SBS 2003 R2.

Occasionally an email that's been read doesn't display as such (icon is
unread and mail is listed in bold). Opening the message, right clicking and
selecting 'Mark as read' makes no difference, however after closing and
reopening Outlook, the problem clears and the message can be marked as read.

I've seen this happen on local and shared Exchange folders. Is this a known
bug?

Which build number of Outlook are you using?
A known source that could cause this behavior are faulty addins.

Hi Roady.

I guess the 'build' is the bit in brackets after the version (11.8169.8172)
SP3, but it's probably the Bells & Whistles add-in I use. It's hopelessly
buggy and the support is a joke, but it does have this feature that
automatically adds a salutation to replies based upon the alias of the
sender's email address. This alone is a real time saver and means I'll
probably put up with the crap until MS notices that it's a really useful
feature that should be in the product anyway.
