Re-sizing photos

I'm using the XP Windows operating system, and have photos saved as JPEG
files, but I cannot easily re-size my photos. I would like to get them down
to 800 pixels wide by 600 pixels high, but the "My pictures" feature in
Windows only allows me to get them to this sizing if I prepare it as an
e-mail. I am unable to save this re-sized file.
Is there a way I can save the re-sized file, or is there a separate program
I have to install in order to do this? Are there any free downloadable
programs available that could do this?

OK, go to the following link and download and
install: ImageResizer.exe

http://tinyurl.com/36n

Then you can open any folder that contains
images and you will have an option to resize.
Just right click the selected image files and
choose Resize Pictures from the menu. You
can select one image or a whole group.

The program will place the resized copies in
the folder with your originals.
(Tip: *Never* overwrite your originals)

BTW...when resizing if you go to...Advanced
Button / Custom...and enter 800 in each field...
the program will do the rest.

In the XP Power Toys Website
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp
There is a free downloadalbe called "Image Resizer"
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe

Install this on your computer. Once the installation is complete. Right
click the image file that you wish to resize in explorer, and Click "Resize
Image". This will bring up a "Resize Pcitures" Dialog box. Choose the size
you wish to resize to and click OK. If you need a custom size Click and
Advanced Button and select the Custom Radio button and enter the size you
need to resize to.

Doing any of the above steps will create a (resized) copy of the original
image.
