Re: Screensaver delay time

Hi Bob,

Is that the only setting under Screensaver that is greyed out? You can
modify ScreenSaverTimeOut and ScreenSaveActive here and under .Default:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

If it is a policy setting restore on line 127
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

To restore Resume - line 161
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Also, if you have altered the SlideShow values, they are listed here:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current
Version\Explorer\ShellImageView\] "Timeout"=dword:00000010

Increase SlideShow Timeout to 10 Seconds (Row 81)

Hi Kelly
The only area greyed out is the box between the words
"Wait:" and "minutes". The value "2" is set in the greyed
out box.
I went to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop and
located ScreenSaveActive (where the data value was 1).
The ScreensaverTimeOut (its data value was 60). I tried
changing the 60 to 120 but the screensaver still comes on
after 2 minutes. Changing the value had no effect.
Now please excuse the inexperience here: In your
instructions, I don't know what a policy setting is nor
could I find what you meant by line 127 or line 161 etc.
Also the slide show values are ok. I am able to change
them from the normal location(Start>ControlPanel>Display
etc.).
To give you an idea where I'm coming from---I've only
recently(1 Year) begun relearning computers. The last one I
had was an Apple //e with a whopping 20 Meg.(yes meg)HD.
I'll say computers are alot easier to use now but also alot
more overwhelming.

AT any rate, Thanks for the patience and help!
Bob

I have done something that has caused the "wait" time
before the screensaver kicks in to be inaccesible for changing.
When I go to Start>Display and choose the Screensaver tab
the area for the wait time is 'grayed out'. I am using My
Pictures Slideshow as the ScrnSvr but I have changed it to
different ones including the default one but still can't
access the wait time option. Is this a registry prob.?
