any help would be appreciated.

Did you buy the machine new with a legitimate copy of Windows XP but without
any Windows or Restore CDs? If so, there must be a hidden partition on the
hard drive, but I would have thought you would need to contact the
manufacturer to find out how to access it.

Good luck on getting any help from the manufacturer. I had the same problem. Sony told me to go to Microsoft for disks. No help there either.

Watch the screen closely as the machine POSTs.... You should see a
message stating how to run recovery. Probably a statement such as:
"Press F12 to enter Recovery" After pressing the correct key,
you'll get a menu or a warning about losing all your data if you run
recovery. The procedure I just gave is similar to that which is used
by HP and Compaq. (neither provide recovery or install disks)

try f10 for setup or f2 for help ..etc, depending on your computer
manufacturer setup.
