Re installing Windows XP

I got a virus or something on my system and went to re-
install Windows XP Pro hoping to correct the problem.
During the install the setup asked for the install cd for
the motherboard which I can not find. The problem is
that I can get no farther. I can not get our of the
install. Power off and power up and it takes me to the
same spot in the install. I don't want to lose
everything on my drive. It is still there. I can boot
from a win98 floppy boot disk and see that it is still
there. However, I cant boot back into my xp. Someone
please help.
