Re-install XP Home on Dell PC

I bought my UK Dell PC about 4 years ago. Dell didn't supply a XP back-up
disc because of the "System Restore" facility. Well, "System Restore" has
failled and I want to Format the hard drive and re-install XP Home. Dell
doesn't want to know.

Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Any thoughts on moving forward?

I did post this question a couple of days earlier and received 2
notifications of responses but - I couldn't/can't find either the post or
response! I had done that in the ofice and wondered if server security was
messing me about?
