Hi, bought a new laptop with XP Home already installed. An 'expert' removed
all the software and re-installed, but as I do not have the CD with the
software on it I do not know how to get Word, XL, etc. back.

Currently only have access to internet and email, no other Microsoft software.

Any help would be great!

Thanks,

Colin

AFAIK there are no OEM (ie pre-installed) versions of Office. If your
machine had Office pre-installed then I would suggest it was a trial
version....if it was NOT pre-installed then your "expert" has made off with
your Office CD.

Hi Colin,

Most new laptops these days come with an additional hidden partition
(hidden on most brands) instead of giving away DVDs or utility CDs to
save cost. Along with the hidden partition there are usually some
instructions on how to restore the computer from the hidden partition.
This usually involves rebooting the computer and pressing a key such
as F2. You should refer to any manuals that came along with your
laptop or just go the laptops website and search for information.

Hope this helps.

If you got pre-installed and you got Expert to do a clean install then you
lost the Office Suite was previously installed.
If you got a collections of CDs with your laptop then see if it there if not
then your copy wiped off when Clean install been performed.
You need to buy a new Copy of Office to do your computing for Docs,
spreadsheet, excel, access and power point .
HTH.

I nearly did, but it will take time to get used to it,

No longer than going from Office 2000 to Office 2002.....

beside some issues of
supporting some docs/application for MS Office.

Only if some obscure formatting is used - for the general user there's
usually no problem....
