Yes it does.
Formatting of your hard drive will destroy /delete everything on
your laptop. Unless you want to fiddle with the boot and delete
only one of your OS and retain the other on your laptop.

But before you do anything - take a look at this site:

It may help.

Hi, usualobject0.

Do you really have two versions of Vista installed? Or is your boot manager
confused?

Can you actually boot to one version, then Restart and select the other
version? Do both versions work? Are they actually different installations,
or just different paths to the same installation?

Perhaps the solution to your problem is as simple as this:
Press <Win>+<Break> keys (Hold down the Windows logo key while pressing
the Pause/Break key. Since each keyboard - especially each laptop
keyboard - is different, you might have to find another combo for your
computer. Or click Start | Control Panel | System to get to the same
location. Either way, the System screen should appear.)

Click Advanced system settings (you probably will need to furnish your
Administrator credentials to get past this point)

Click Advanced, then Settings under Startup and Recovery

Finally, under Default operating system, select the one you want to use,
then clear the check from the box in front of Time to display list of
operating systems - or set the time to just a few or even zero seconds.

Then OK your way out to the desktop.

Next time you restart, it should automatically boot your selection with no
delays.

(A better solution is to use BCDEdit.exe or a third-party program such as
EasyBCD.exe to delete the duplicate listing, but it is a little more
technical.)

If you really do have two installations, post back with more details and we
can help you get rid of one. It might be as easy as deleting the extra
\Windows folder.
