Hello! I am new to this site and have done alot of reading.I have treid
alot of the things on this site to try to get my acer laptop to start
Windows vista.
I have a Acer aspire Laptop with Windows vista 64 bit
It worked fine until the other day i started it and it wouldn't boot
windows at all.The only disk that I got with my computer was the
Windows vista anytime upgrade CD.It has let me install windows vista
once before when my computer crashed. Now when I try to re-install
Windows vista everything works fine until I get to the part where it
asks me to select the drive on where to install it to.I can't find any
where it is suppose to list them. Also what used to be my C: drive is
now Drive X:
I have tried to boot from dos,Treid to do the repair,Nothing seems to
work.
When I start my computer now the only thing I get is;
Media test failure,Check cable
Exiting PXE ROM
Can anyone give me some ideas on what to try or do?
Thank you

You might want to visit Acer support, to see how to access the bios to check
whether any HD's are detected.
You might also see if Acer have any utilities to check what may be a failed
drive

trouble

Your hard drive has failed or become disconnected.
You can access the hard drive and unplug and replug it in to see if that
solves your problem.
If your computer is still under warranty let Acer handle it.
If your computer is out of warranty replacing the hard drive yourself is not
difficult or you can have a computer repair service do it for you. The fact
that you are seeing the BIOS messages indicates that your motherboard and
power systems are probably working properly.

Thanks for the quick reply. So what you are saying is that I am suppose
to take my laptop apart and physicly unplug my hard drive and plug it
back in? I will give it a shot. Are there any step by steps that can
give me an idea how to do this.Have never had a laptop apart before. Is
thare anything else I could try? And last question is, How much does a
new hard drive cost? Thank you all for your help.
