Re: Converting NTFS to FAT32

To do a clean install, either boot the Windows 2000 install CD-Rom or setup
disks. The set of four install disks can be created from your Win2k CD-rom;
change to the \bootdisk directory on the cd-rom and execute makeboot.exe
(from dos) or makebt32.exe (from 32 bit) and follow the prompts.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the CD-Rom or setup disks to avoid unexpected drive
letter assignments with your new install.

If you want to install to fat32, set the partition size to 32 gB or smaller.

Did you select or highlight the partition? If the NTFS partition is a
primary partition, you can also boot a win98 startup disk, run fdisk and
delete the non-dos partition.

I tried performing the clean install... but when I reach
the point to delete the partitions, I hit "D" as it
indicates, but nothing seems to happen. It does not do
anything... just waits until I hit enter to continue. Is
it possibly deleting it without informing me?

Thanks,

Dave

The help in Windows 2000 suggests I am able to convert
NTSF to FAT32, but I cannot figure out how. I tried
formatting the harddrive, I don't mind losing everything,
but It doesn't allow it. I tried reloading Windows, but it
doesn't let me delete the old partition. Is there a method
to convert NTSF to FAT32???

Thanks,

Dave
