Check Disk runs on every boot: Note - I have seen this happen when Windows
File Protection has either been disabled or not allowed to run upon
canceling the bootup Check Disk.

Suggestions and Checkpoints:

Go to Start/Run/CMD and type in: fsutil dirty query c:
(Modify the drive letter accordingly)

If it comes back as dirty, it hasn't cleared. For more information go to
Start/Run/CMD and type in: CHKNTFS /?

Option: From a command prompt type chkntfs /D and then reboot, a chkdsk
should run but not again on next boot.

Thanks for your reply.

fsutil and chkntfs both show that the drive is dirty. I tried the chkntfs
/D option and the disk was checked on bootup. Running chkntfs immediately
after startup showed that the drive is still dirty and chkdsk continues to
run on every bootup.

Any other suggestions to turn off this behavior would be appreciated.

Using WinXP on a P4 I have a problem with checkdisk running on one of my
drives each time I reboot. No errors are found. The drive is partitioned
and only one of the partitions has the problem. I let check disk run each
time but it doesn't help.

Any ideas on how to get it to stop running check disk on this partition.

Thanks.

Then copy these lines below in notepad and name it "disablecheckdisk.reg"
and install.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"SFCScan"=dword:0000000

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager]
"AutoChkTimeOut"=dword:0000000
