Certainly is. What you want to do is to insert Continuous Section breaks
(Insert, Break menu) before and after the desired text you want protected,
then click "Tools", "Protect Document", select the "Forms" option and select
the desired Sections to protect. You can easily see what section you are in
by looking at the bottom left of your screen in the Status Bar.
 
The protection this offers is, however, minimal - see the reply to the
second post submitted 5 minutes later :(
