RDC problem "stuck" CTRL key...?

I've been usig RDC very succesfully across a njumber of machines on
this network 9and others) but I've just run into a strange problem. I
jsut reinstalled everything on a machine which had prevciously worked
fine, and when I connect to any other machine the session acts as if
I'm holding down the CTRL key. For instance, right now I'm typing in
Agent over RDC and whenever I use the arrow keys text is highlighted.
This does not happen with local applications, and does not happen with
another WinXP Pro install on another partition. It does happen when
connected to other RDC servers, so I'm pretty sure it's something
about this WinXP install. Is there a registry setting that might be
corrupted, or something else I should try? (I tried downloading RDC
5.2 - same result.)

I just came to this newsgroup to find a solution to this exact problem. So,
while I'm not going to be of much help to you now, I can at least second
your request for assistance!
 
The latest version of the ATI Control Panel applet appears to be the
culprit. Please check out this message from "Mason Guy":
 
I wonder if it could be something related to a recent hotfix? I
usually load them all ASAP (as in this case) - how about you?
