RC1 x86 install - "leftover files" OK to delete ?

Anyone know of a reason to NOT delete the hidden $INPLACE.~TR and
$WINDOWS.~Q folders left behind from the upgrade in the root folder ?
They have 1.5gb of stuff in them and am I correct to assume that they
WERE used and can be deleted now. Just want to check before I delete
and THEN find out that "all my stuff is in there and being accessed at
boot time" e.g.

I deleted these files about a few days ago and have not had any problems
with vista !
