I wish vista gave more info on WHICH driver is at fault.

All I can determine is that SOME driver is caught in a loop.

I get a blue screen and can't continue.

I have tried changing the resolution to 640x480 under advanced options - no
help.

System is reaonably plain vanilla, P4 2400, 1g, ATI x1600 video, ata drives
not sata.

This happens on a clean install or on upgrade, always stops in the same
place during the COmpleting Upgrade section.

Anyone else have this problem? Suggestions for a workaround?

Henry

Can you boot to safe mode? If so try going into device manager and disabling
devices not required for bootup... this includes the video card.
