RAS then VPN to overseas Site

Advice required please:-

Scenario:- US office that has its mail hosted in the UK on Exchnage 2000 and
this US office is connected by firewall VPN.
The US office has remote users who need to dial up for mail from none
wireless or connected office via the landline/mobile. To dial UK is expensive.

Is it possible to dial the US office W2K RAS server on 800 no and then
initiate a connection to the UK mailserver via the inplace VPN.

It seems possible technically but wonder if anyone has tried or is doing it.

Thanks in advance.

It should work. However, the implementation can be difficult because of the name resolution. I would do RPC over HTTPS.

Setup RPC over HTTPS Setup RPC for RPC over HTTPS. 1. Uncheck Enable anonymous access and check Basic ... Setup Default Web Site for OWA, OMA, ActiveSync and RPC over HTTPS ...

Thanks for the information.

I will be implementing in about 3 weeks when I visit the US office.

Is it something that you have done?

Is the connection likely to be flaky (i know it depends on VPN speed) or is
the connection just a setup and forget.

Thanks again.

We need more details to help. What I can say is you may want to install the WINS server for VPN connection. Good luck and post back if you need help.
