Hello all,
I'm running into a problem with a certain program that we make and
maintain in our shop. A user will download the program, and then make
a shortcut to the program on the desktop. Once the user double-clicks
the icon to start the program, the shortcut deletes and is totally
erased from the system. The program will then launch like everything
is normal except for when you exit the program, you find that the
shortcut you used to launch it is gone. This has happened on only two
systems. One I had to reinstall the OS for another reason besides this
weirdness. That fixed the problem on the first one, but I think that's
a lot of unnecessary work and time for the user to spend without the
box.
FYI, this has happened both on and off our corporate network and the
machines have virus protection as well.
Any thoughts or hunches would be greatly appreciated as I've been
working on this for quite a while and I can't seem to narrow it down.
The user's config is as follows:
Dell Inspiron 4100 Series
256MB RAM
20GB HD
Windows XP Pro SP2
Patched to latest spec.
Thanks in advance for your time and effort,
Andy
